Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with mixed feelings that I submit my resignation as your
Pastor effective July 1st. I am not leaving Bovina because of any
dissatisfaction with you or the church. Life circumstances have
combined with a strong feeling that the Lord is directing me to
a new place of living and ministry. I have accepted a call to the
Glen Kirk Presbyterian Church in Waynesboro, Virginia.
I would like to say that I have enjoyed working with the session
in its various makeups over the past few years and appreciated its
members taking their responsibilities seriously and how they were
always ready to take on the tasks at hand. It has been a privilege and
a distinct pleasure to have worked with such a dedicated Christian
education staff, particularly with the Junior Choir program. Bovina
at this time has a great group of kids and I will miss them and look
back fondly on the many plays we presented together and the
many songs we sung. Though the amount of children can fluctuate
over the years, right now, Bovina is very fortunate to have them
and the life they breath into the church. I am thankful to those who
have shared their musical gifts during worship these past few years.
I especially appreciate the congregation’s patience and support
when Jessica was in the hospital. This meant a great deal to me. I am
also glad I had the opportunity to meet and pastor some very special
people who are no longer with us. I walk away having been touched
by their spirits and their faith.
Bovina has many things to be proud of, a caring spirit that reaches
out to those who are hurting and in need in the community, the
activities that are spurred on by the new Fellowship committee,
her youth, the varied musical talents of her members, and a dedicated
core of people who jump in and do what needs to be done. I am
sorry I will not be here to celebrate your 200th year, but I leave knowing
you enter that year with not only a past to rejoice about, but with
a now to celebrate as well.
Sun., June 22nd will be my last day in the pulpit, and I will be taking
vacation from the 23rd thru the 30th to move. Though I will no longer
be around and available to be your pastor, I will continue to uphold
you and Bovina UP in my prayers.
Thank You for the privilege of being
Your Pastor,
Respectfully Submitted,
Scott A.. Conrad
